What is Action-Based Learning?

At Joshua 1:9 Learning Center, we believe in movement inside our classrooms.  Our students are up and moving every 15 minutes throughout their day.  We do NOT believe in our students sitting in a desk all day.  We offer flexible seating options in our classrooms, which also makes movement possible for our students.  We've found that our flexible seating options inside our classrooms has improved focus, concentration, and behaviors.

Inside our classrooms at Joshua 1:9 Learning Center, our teachers use unique, hands-on learning experiences with our students.  We believe that the best way for a child to learn is to get involved, and sometimes get their hands dirty!  Hands-on learning is one of the best ways for a child to learn and explore the world around them.  You will see hands-on activities in all of our classrooms - from Preschool all the way through our Elementary School grade levels.  

Our Elementary School students at Joshua 1:9 Learning Center will also learn concepts through Project-based Learning.  This learning style requires our students to not only complete individual portions of a project, but to also work together with their classmates so solve problems.  Project-based Learning often times requires a higher level of thinking but allows our students the ability to learn concepts through interaction with their peers.  Some of the best ways to learn a new concept is for students to work together to solve a problem.
