Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) is a school voucher program that offers State funds for your child to attend an accredited private school in Texas. Private schools must be approved by the State Comptroller and listed on the Education Freedom website to particpate. Schools can be found on the website: educationfreedomtexas.gov
Applications for the 2026-2027 school year are closed. Visit the Education Freedom Texas website for information about the application window for the 2027-2028 school year.
You will receive an email from TEFA showing the amount of your award. You will select a school (Joshua 1:9 Learning Center) where your funds will be sent and complete the enrollment application here on the Apply to Joshua 1:9 page of our website.
Upon receiving your enrollment application and required documents, Joshua 1:9 will contact you with how to proceed with your enrollment process.
You can use your TEFA funds for school tuition, fees (Registration fee, Supply Fee, athletic fees, services such as Dyslexia, Speech, or Special Education services), uniforms, technology, and other items. Please see the full list on the Education Freedom website. A list of fees for Joshua 1:9 is listed on our Tuition and Fees page.
No, TEFA funds can only be used for private school tuition or specific items listed on the Education Freedom website.
No, once you have received an award, you do not need to re-apply. Any unused funds from your account will carry over into the next school year. If you did not receive an award for 2026-2027, you must re-apply when the application window opens for 2027-2028.
